On December 13, 2009 Bill Brady once again took centre stage as the Master of Ceremonies for the Christmas Season Celebration. Following the concert, a cheque in the amount of $3110 was donated to Mission Services of London to buy 1000 meals for those struggling with homelessness and poverty in the London area.

This is exciting news. A number of homeless organizations are participating in a new City of London initiative called London CAReS – the London Community Addiction Response Strategy. It is designed to find ways to alleviate the suffering of the homeless, many of whom experience an addiction or mental health concern, or both. One of three SAFE HAVEN locations is now open at the Gathering Place (457 York) from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m, Monday to Friday, to provide support for those individuals living on the street. As well, a MOBILE OUTREACH VAN staffed by Mission Services staff will be out on the street in the evening hours to help with emergent needs that do not require police or medical attention. We are so thankful for the leadership the City of London is showing in this area. |
